How a Catholic Parish is related to the suffering world

Small Catholic parishes still quietly attract suffering servants.

I took a thick packet of get well cards from our students and visited James Mohr yesterday in Hackensack Hospital. James is a ruddy beaming and popular gym teacher who worked here until last summer, let go because of our budget cuts. As a 22year old son of a NYC Firefighter he was mauled by drunken Kansas City Chief fans in the Meadowlands parking lot after the Jets game last Sunday after he tried to counter slurs that New York "deserved" 9/11 . He suffered no permanent brain damage. He is gentle and forgiving. Please pray for him. He is to be released today.

His father's cousin in the incomparable Fr. Ed Barry.
