These are the “O” antiphons that are used to introduce the Magnificat on the seven days prior to Christmas. They are the sacred titles of the Lord in the prophetic tradition. I had the children’s mass tonight and tried to correlate how the names of heroes correspond to abilities. The one that hit home was “Mr. October” Reggie Jackson. When the Yankees needed him deep in October he pulled through. I ended with “Mr. December.”
Many of the kids have seen me on TV now and it raises their expectations. If you are reading this you have seen how the website is not up to date. We are launching a new one which will be dynamic, but I can tell you we still live hand to mouth. Which is to say that all that Goods of Conscience is done with the efforts of many volunteers and we are going to need funding apart from sales at this stage. I would like to have the funds to hire someone here to train as a manager. it is harder and harder to do it all myself. Last week I was out in San Francisco illuminating the Church of St. Ignatius and making contact with a store willing to carry our goods.
Wisdom, O Holy Word of God, you govern all creation with your strong yet tender care. Come and show your people the way to salvation.
O sacred Lord of ancient Israel, who showed yourself to Moses in the burning bush, who gave him the holy law on Sinai mountain: Come and stretch out your mighty hand to set us free.
O Flower of Jesse’s stem, you have been raised up as a sign for all peoples: kings stand silent in your presence; that nations bow down in worship before you. Come, let nothing keep you from coming to our aid.
O key of David, O royal Power of Israel controlling at your will the gate of heaven; come break down the prison walls of death for those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death and lead your captive people into freedom
O Radiant Dawn, splendor of eternal lightl sun of justice, come shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.
O King of all the nations; the only joy of every human heart; O Keystone of the mighty arch of man, come and save the creature you fashioned from the dust.
O Emmanuel, king and lawgiver, desire of the nations, Savior of all people, come and set us free, Lord our God.
